Stewardship and Other Schemes

A significant number of Shoots operate on land which is subject to Stewardship or is designated as SSSi, SAC or SPA. We have many years’ experience in dealing with Stewardships and designated areas.

Some of these schemes can usefully contribute to improving or maintaining sporting properties, but we have seen many examples of owners ‘chasing the money’ by entering into schemes, which are disadvantageous in terms of achieving the owner’s objectives for their sporting property.

We believe that by fully understanding the complexities of the various schemes/ designations, we can advise clients on how to manage their property. Some schemes considerably enhance a Shoot, without cost to the owner, but a proper evaluation before entering any scheme is essential.
